Fire Danger Period

The Fire Danger Period for Yarra Ranges Council will commence at 1am on Monday 18th December 2017 and will end at 1am on 1st May 2018, unless revoked prior.

The declaration of the Fire Danger Period means that certain restrictions on the lighting of fires are in force. During the Fire Danger Period you cannot light a fire in the open air unless you have a written permit from CFA or a Municipal Fire Prevention Officer.

Lighting a fire in the open air without a permit is an offence, and can bring a penalty of over $17,000 and/or 12 months imprisonment.

During the Fire Danger Period you cannot light a fire in the open air unless you have a written permit from CFA or a Municipal Fire Prevention Officer.
